The blade is made of 9cr14MoV, a high-end Chinese stainless steel rich in chromium and mid-high in carbon. This material offers excellent corrosion resistance, making it ideal for demanding tools such as stainless steel blades and surgical tools. 9cr14MoV is comparable to 440B, a higher-end Chinese stainless steel used in high-end barbering scissors and surgical tools. The maximum Rockwell Hardness of 9cr14MoV is 58-60 HRC, providing outstanding wear resistance due to the combination of carbon, chromium, and vanadium. However, sharpening the knife will require more effort than with other steels, making it more durable in the long run.

When buying a large belt knife like this, you want a "full tang" construction. This means the steel extends from the hilt to the tip, making it one continuous piece. This knife is full tang, providing high structural integrity and reducing the risk of breakage to near zero under normal circumstances.
